Residential Construction Project: Addition and Outdoor Living Area
Owner: Dr. Adam Oliver and Maria Oliver
Designer: Rodney Wilhite
Size: 1,200 sf
Completion: January 2020
Dr. Adam Oliver and his wife, Maria, wanted to build a backyard space to grill, enjoy fresh air and spend time with friends. As they considered different options from screens to misting fans, they realized the project would be a big undertaking.
A previous contractor advised that they needed an architect. A designer friend in town suggested Rodney Wilhite with Riley Palmer Construction Company.
“He was very down to earth and very approachable,” Dr. Oliver said. After sitting down with Rodney and discussing their ideas, the couple decided to trust RPCC with their residential construction project.
“It was a really good crew to work with,” Dr. Oliver said. “Everyone – their subs, down to the guys who painted the walls, the guys who laid blocks, electricians, plumbers. Everyone was solid.”
As the project was nearing completion, the Olivers asked whether it would be ready in time to host friends for the Super Bowl. The morning of the Super Bowl, Rodney came out and put the finishing touches on the structure to make that a reality.
“It was a very satisfying feeling,” Dr. Oliver said.
One thing the Olivers particularly appreciated about RPCC was their transparency. “At the end of the day,” Dr. Oliver said, “every single receipt was there. There was always communication if they needed to change something. They let us know.”
He said they would definitely recommend RPCC to their family and friends.
“They’re very professional, they’re very patient, and they gave us the most realistic time frame for completion and budget.” Of all the contractors they’ve worked with, he said, RPCC was “far and away” the most professional.
Now that the project is complete, Dr. Oliver said it’s very satisfying to look out and see the completed living area.
“It’s a work of art, the whole thing. It really is.”
